LOCAL : Man Sought in Wife’s Shooting
Authorities were continuing a search today for the estranged husband who allegedly shot a pregnant Westminster woman in the head.
Anthony L. Totten, 32, was being sought on suspicion of attempted murder after his wife told police that he shot her Tuesday with a .22-caliber rifle as she was leaving a Beach Boulevard medical clinic, Huntington Beach Police Lt. Ed McErlain said.
“We are checking out a number of locations,” McErlain said, adding that 15 investigators were working on the case. “We are actively trying to determine his whereabouts.”
Anthony Totten allegedly has a history of abusive behavior toward his wife, Janet C. Totten, 29, from whom he has been separated since February, court documents show.
He filed for divorce Oct. 25, a day before she obtained a court order barring him from coming within 100 yards of her and their two young children. She was in stable condition in the hospital, and the child she is carrying is not in danger, authorities said this morning.
