Port Project 2020 Is a ‘Boondoggle’

Share

To the taxpayer/voters, reducing the deficit means cutting spending.

To the politicians, it means: Enhance revenue, i.e., raise taxes.

Cutting spending means just that. Among the notorious boondoggle projects that should be eliminated is Los Angeles Harbor Project 2020. This project, using vast amounts of federal deficit funds, would fill in over 1,000 acres of Los Angeles Harbor. The major protected boating area would be eliminated. Therefore, safe boating will be sacrificed.

In addition, Project 2020 will cause tremendous traffic increases and pollution and add to the overcrowding of the Los Angeles, San Pedro and Wilmington areas.

Project 2020 is not needed. It will simply take business away from other West Coast harbors such as Seattle and San Francisco.

Let’s restore confidence in our representative government. Cut spending, eliminate boondoggle projects, especially Project 2020. We, the voters, have a grand opportunity to send a message to the incumbents on Election Day.
