Minnesota’s conservative Republican Party has shelved its reservations about Arne Carlson and backed him for governor in place of Jon Grunseth, who quit the race because of sexual misconduct allegations.

The question of his running mate was before the state Supreme Court. Carlson wants Joanell Dyrstad, his running mate in the September primary.

But Sharon Clark, who was Grunseth’s running mate, has refused to step aside. She filed a petition Wednesday seeking a hearing to determine whether she has the right to the second spot or Carlson can choose.
