Share

The varsity cheerleaders from Lutheran High School in Orange have been invited to perform in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City and at the Cotton Bowl Parade and halftime show in Dallas on Jan. 1, 1991.

The cheerleaders received their invitations after their impressive display of attitude and technical excellence at the National Cheerleaders Assn.’s instruction camp at UCLA this past summer. Lutheran High School cheerleader Jennifer Maddock was named an All-American Superstar and may appear in the Aloha Bowl in Hawaii.

The South Coast Symphony Youth Orchestra in residence at Los Alamitos High School along with the Orange County High School of the Arts is seeking talented young musicians to take part in the group’s upcoming international tour to Berlin.

The ensemble, under the direction of Scott Speck, will leave next summer for a 10-day trip that includes concerts on both sides of the crumbling Berlin Wall, as well as in other picturesque locations around Germany.

This will mark the second international tour for the group. Last year’s season included a four-concert trip to Quebec, Canada.

Now in its 17th season, the South Coast Symphony Youth Orchestra joined OCHSA on the Los Alamitos High School campus in 1988. In addition to weekly rehearsals, orchestra members have the option of attending chamber orchestra practice, advanced sectional rehearsals taught by professional orchestra musicians and classes in music history, theory, orchestration, composition and conducting--all free of charge.

For further information about the orchestra, or to schedule an audition, please contact OCHSA at (213) 596-1435.
