Santa Ana police are investigating two drive-by shootings that took place Wednesday night and left four men wounded, two critically.

Three men were wounded in the first attack as they stood in front of a home at 320 N. Gunther St. A car drove by at 11 p.m. and someone fired several shots, hitting each of the men, Sgt. Art Echternacht said.

Most seriously wounded in that attack was Gabriel Gonzales, 18, of Santa Ana. He was hit in the chest and back and remains in stable condition at UCI Medical Center.

Also injured in the shooting were Anthony Lopez, 25, and Adrian Acala, 21, both of Santa Ana. Lopez was shot in the right arm and right leg while Acala was struck by bullets in the upper left leg and right arm.

Both refused medical treatment from paramedics, Echternacht said.

“All three victims were interviewed by police and were very uncooperative,” Echternacht said. “They said they didn’t see anything, hear anything or know anything except for the fact that they had been shot.”

The second shooting occurred 45 minutes later in front of a house at 2021 W. Myrtle St.

Sergio Zamora, 18, of Santa Ana and an unidentified 19-year-old male were walking home when a car carrying four men drove by and an occupant fired between two and four gunshots.

Zamora fell. He was taken to UCI Medical Center for treatment of a bullet wound. A UCI spokeswoman on Thursday night said Zamora’s condition was “extremely critical.”

The 19-year-old who accompanied Zamora was not identified. Police said he was not hurt.

Police said they did not know if the shootings were gang-related and added there is no indication that the incidents were related.
