Hall Monitor: Singing cowboy star Roy Rogers, 78, is the “terror of the hallways” and soon will leave St. Mary Desert Hospital in Apple Valley, where he is recovering from heart surgery, his son said. Roy (Dusty) Rogers Jr. said his dad has a portable oxygen tank that allows him to roam around the building. The elder Rogers is anxious to get home for a multiple birthday celebration. Wife Dale Evans turned 78 Wednesday, Dusty turned 44 on Oct. 28 and Rogers himself will be 79 on Monday.

Also on the list are 5-foot-7 rock star Billy Joel, 5-foot-7 Broadway actor Robert Morse, 5-foot-6 Olympic gymnast Bart Connor, 5-foot-8 television home handyman Bob Vila, 5-foot- 7 Cleveland Mayor Michael White and 5-foot-8 writer Tom Wolfe.
