CAMARILLO : Hospital Employee Dies in Car Crash
An employee of Camarillo State Hospital and Developmental Center employee, driving on hospital grounds while intoxicated, was killed Saturday afternoon when his car smashed head-on into a tree, authorities said.
Donald Dwaine Mitchell, 46, of Oxnard died of internal injuries at Pleasant Valley Hospital in Camarillo at 5:54 p.m., Deputy Coroner Zelmira Isaac said.
Mitchell was traveling north on Camarillo Drive on his way off the grounds when the accident occurred at 4:15 p.m., authorities said. As he rounded a curve, his vehicle crossed the southbound lane and hit the tree. Mitchell was not wearing a seat belt, the California Highway Patrol said.
