Nation : Guam Governor Wins Reelection
Gov. Joseph Ada won reelection today, becoming the first gubernatorial incumbent to win consecutive terms in this U.S. territory.
The Republican Ada and his running mate, Lt. Gov. Frank Blas, defeated Democratic challenger Madeleine Bordallo and her running mate, Jose (Ping) Duenas.
With 61 of the 76 precincts reporting, the Ada-Blas team had 16,088 votes to 11,891 votes for Bordallo-Duenas.
Bordallo, the first woman to run for governor, is the wife of former Guam Gov. Ricardo Bordallo, who committed suicide Jan. 30, one day before he was to begin an 18-month federal prison term in California.
