European golf officials threatened to pull stars...
European golf officials threatened to pull stars such as Nick Faldo and Severiano Ballesteros out of the Ryder Cup because of rifts between the event’s organizing bodies, the Professional Golfers’ Assn. and the PGA European Tour.
Europe’s Ryder Cup captain, Bernard Gallacher, also threatened to quit if the differences are not resolved soon.

Ken Schofield, executive director of the European Tour, said most major differences over money and organization have been resolved, but a stumbling block appears to be a PGA suggestion that the agreement should be reviewed in 12 years.
