A 30-year-old man shot during a struggle with an undercover Anaheim officer was identified Wednesday as Raul Camarena Alcantar of Huntington Park.

Camarena was wounded at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Riverside when a team of Anaheim narcotics officers assigned to investigate an unrelated case spotted men standing near a Lincoln Continental involved in what they believed to be a drug sale, Lt. Vince Howard said. When the officers moved in to make arrests, Camarena became violent and fought with an officer, police said.

“There was a struggle and there was an accidental discharge of the (investigator’s) firearm,” Howard said.

Camarena, one of four people arrested on suspicion of dealing cocaine, was listed in stable condition at Riverside General Hospital with a shot in the right side, a hospital spokeswoman said.

The other three men were identified as Mario Alberto Rios Garcia, 21, of Lynwood, Filiberto Sanchez Gurrola, 30, of Riverside and Julio Sanchez Gurrola, 25, of Fresno. They were held at Riverside County Jail on $250,000 bail each.
