Chadwick School has announced the election of four South Bay residents as officers on the Roessler-Chadwick Foundation Board of Trustees for 1990-91. William V. Davidson of Long Beach has been elected president. Davidson, a 1963 graduate of Chadwick School, assumed the position from Dr. Chadwick F. Smith of Rolling Hills, who stepped down after five years of service. Newly elected members serving with Davidson are Rolling Hills resident William D. King, vice chairman; John C. Weaver, Rancho Palos Verdes, secretary, and Manhattan Beach resident Richard Schuchard, a 1970 graduate of Chadwick School, treasurer.

Torrance resident Doris Toomer, volunteer coordinator for Wells Fargo Bank, is the recipient of the Wells Fargo Bank President’s Award for Social Services. A $2,500 cash award in her name was presented to Restore, a rehabilitation program in Los Angeles providing shelter, support and access to many kinds of professional help for women. It is open to all women seeking new lives after drug or alcohol abuse, sexual abuse, mental illness or homelessness.

Kathron Loyd of Redondo Beach is the new president of Southwest Escrow Assn. Loyd has held positions in a number of other professional associations and was named 1988 Woman of the Year for the Happy Hearts Chapter of the American Business Women’s Assn.

Palos Verdes Peninsula resident Mary Crevier Sabatasso is the new president of Las Amigas De Las Lomas auxiliary of Crippled Children’s Guild, Orthopaedic Hospital, Los Angeles. Serving with her as vice presidents are Millie Semmelroth, Annetta Daily, Wanda Lester, Virginia Deasy, Cindy Lesch and Sandy Luther. Other board members are Karen Cutler, Linda DeGuelle, Susan Carey, Bernadette Cukingnan, Milla Tarr, Jane Bradpiece, Kathy Schmidt, Barbara Carr, Kitsa Treantafelles, Loretta Ball, Millie Semmelroth, Priscilla Requr, Marge Robinson, Carole Reifer, Charlotte Blades, Jan Masaka and Gay Swanson.

Rolling Hills resident Robert L. Trujillo is the new chairman of the Little Company of Mary Hospital Foundation. Other foundation officers are Richard M. Thor of Palos Verdes Estates, Patricia W. Smith of Torrance, Sister Nancy Boyle, who is chairwoman of the hospital’s board of directors, and William J. O’Brien and Barbara F. Cummins of Palos Verdes Estates.

Palos Verdes Estates resident Mark E. Costa has been named executive vice president, Little Company of Mary Hospital. Costa served as vice president of administration at Torrance Memorial Medical Center for the past five years.

Playa del Rey resident Evan Moore is the new director of Del Amo Diagnostic Center, radiation therapy and diagnostic center in Torrance. Moore was formerly vice president of administration at Harbor Health Systems, Bay Harbor Hospital, Harbor City.

Rancho Palos Verdes resident Dr. Serena Young is the recipient of the Outstanding Chinese American Woman Award, presented by the Los Angeles Chapter of the Organization of Chinese American Women.

Afflicted with polio at the age of 2, Young overcame tremendous odds to become a general orthopedic surgeon.

The 200-member Los Angeles chapter was founded in 1981. Activities include support of a hot-line program to provide information to Chinese students and nationals in the United States, fund raising with other Asian women’s organizations and community groups to produce a videotape on domestic violence and supporting and working with Asian groups on community activities.

Ann Bauer, a member of the Torrance Memorial Medical Center’s Auxiliary, has been elected to the board of directors of Torrance Memorial Medical Center Health Care Foundation. The South Bay resident is also a member of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s Costume and Textile Council and a board member of the American Needlepoint Guild. As a member of the auxiliary, Bauer will help oversee acquisition and distribution of funds raised to benefit the 340-bed medical center.

Jess Morton has been reelected president of the Palos Verdes Peninsula Audubon Society. Morton, a naturalist, was founding president of the Palos Verdes Peninsula chapter of the Audubon Society. Other board members are Joe Slap, Ken Malloy, Ellen Brubaker, Ollie Coker, Shirley Borks, Bob Carr, Virgil Hanson, Joe Meltzer, Lorna Peach and Rona Trainor.

Winners have been announced in the Pacific Art Guild show held recently at the Westchester Municipal Building. They are Davis Miller, best of show; Dolores Lydick, first prize; Iris Jackson, second prize; Rita Lewis, third prize; Mary Martin Scott, honorable mention.
