An Acton woman awaiting trial for operating an unlicensed kennel has been rearrested on charges she violated a bail condition by opening new unlicensed kennels in her home and a trailer containing nearly 40 dogs, animal control authorities said.

Susan Jennifer Arn, 31, pleaded not guilty Thursday in Newhall Municipal Court to misdemeanor charges of operating illegal kennels at her home in the 34900 block of Acton Canyon Road and in a trailer in the 31600 block of Tick Canyon Road, said Sgt. Chris Norton of the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control.

Norton said 12 dogs were stored in small boxes inside an 18-foot trailer without adequate ventilation or heating on Tick Canyon Road. Investigators found another 27 dogs in pens at Arn’s home. The dogs were placed in the custody of Arn’s neighbors and a friend, who offered to care for them.

Arn breeds golden retrievers, but does not have the proper permits, Norton said.

She was arrested in July on similar charges and animal control officers impounded 43 dogs and 13 bobcats. Investigators did not know why she had the bobcats.

She was released on her own recognizance pending trial in the earlier case, but on the condition that she not operate a kennel without the proper permits. She was being held in lieu of $5,000 bail in the current case.
