Boy, 15, in Coma After Gang Fight
A 15-year-old boy injured in a gang fight lapsed into a coma and was hospitalized in extremely critical condition Saturday, authorities said.
Emilaf Jiminez of Hawaiian Gardens was involved in a gang dispute on Horst Avenue shortly before midnight on Friday, Sheriff’s Deputy George Ducoulombier said. He was able to get home on his own but apparently lapsed into a coma early Saturday.
His mother tried to awaken him about 9 a.m. but couldn’t and summoned paramedics.
The youth was taken to Long Beach Memorial Hospital, where doctors detected head injuries, Ducoulombier said.
