Britain Gives the Nod to Arts: The British government, recently blasted by arts organizations for not showing enough commitment to the arts, has announced an 11% increase in government support for the arts in 1991, as well as the establishment of a new arts fund. Arts Minister David Mellor said Friday that the government would give the British Arts Council $379 million next year, an increase of $37 million over this year.
