Pay Cuts at Oakland Paper: Workers at the Tribune were told that 20% cuts in wages and benefits would be necessary to keep the newspaper alive. Publisher Robert C. Maynard told employees that the cuts were part of a plan that involves layoffs and changes in operations--contingencies that were announced earlier. All employees except those earning less than $13 an hour would be affected.
