SANTA ANA : Explosive Goes Off Inside U.S. Mailbox
An explosive device went off Sunday afternoon inside a U.S. mail box outside an East 4th Street commercial building. No injuries were reported and the device caused little damage, police said.
Sgt. Kevin Brown described the explosive, which went off about 5 p.m., as “relatively minor,” in terms of the extent of the damage to the mailbox.
The box is a drive-up type where motorists can deposit letters from their cars. It exploded in front of a building in the 1600 block of East 4th Street.
Bomb experts from the Orange County bomb detail were called in to inspect the damage, and to search for any other explosive devices that may have been in other mailboxes, Brown said.
