OXNARD : Contract to Be Let on Book Depository

Share

The Oxnard school board will award a contract to the lowest bidder on Tuesday to build a new book depository next to the district administration building on South A Street.

The depository will be created from an existing structure that formerly housed lumber. The 1,900-square-foot structure will be two stories high.

Designed to house the district’s collection of school textbooks, the new depository will also be a processing center for new textbooks.

“Previously, we made do at each school site,” Supt. Norman R. Brekke said.

Bids will be opened today and evaluated by district staff. At the board meeting, the bids will be presented and the district will accept the lowest bid, Brekke said. He said he could not estimate the cost of construction.
