A woman who tracked her husband to a rendezvous with an alleged paramour was slain when she broke into the wrong house, officials said today.

Priscilla Brayboy was shot to death by a homeowner early Sunday when she forced her way into a house where she believed her husband was having an affair, Sheriff’s Sgt. Bruce Williams said.

Williams said Brayboy, 32, and a friend drove down a street looking for her husband, Joe. When the women spotted a gray Volvo parked in a driveway on the street, Priscilla Brayboy thought it belonged to her husband.

When she knocked on the door, a woman answered, Williams said. Brayboy, believing her husband was inside, began to force her way into the house.

A man inside the home heard the commotion and armed himself with a shotgun, Williams said. As Brayboy lunged through the door, the man shot her, the officer said.

When Mrs. Brayboy’s friend saw what had happened, she ran down the street screaming and noticed another gray Volvo parked in another driveway a few houses away. The woman went to that house and found Joe Brayboy inside, Williams said.
