Share

The four Simi Valley neighborhood councils will hold their annual Fall Cleanup Campaign on Saturday.

Residents are encouraged to clean their houses, yards and garages of unwanted material and bring the refuse to one of two disposal sites set up in the parking lots at Royal and Simi Valley high schools, said Terisa Makarehchi, coordinator of the free program. Trash will be collected at the sites from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., she said.

American-Simi and Anderson Rubbish will provide dumpsters and Waste Management, operator of the Simi Valley landfill, will dispose of the trash at no charge.

Commercial and industrial users are prohibited from participating in the cleanup program, Makarehchi said. Also, no hazardous waste items such as paints, insecticides and used motor oil will be accepted.

Makarehchi said that more than 700 people are expected to participate and that residents are encouraged to come by the disposal sites as early as possible to avoid lines.

She said the neighborhood councils will hold their annual Spring Cleanup Campaign in April.
