Share

* Toto (Ventura Theatre, 26 S. Chestnut St., 648-1888) . The world distance Frisbee record is an amazing 467 feet. The new Toto greatest hits album has 500 feet written all over it.

* Tom Ball & Kenny Sultan (The Grill, 1279 Coast Village Road, Montecito, 969-2261) . Acoustic folk blues provides the background for an entire herd of upscale yuppies.

FRIDAY

* Lion I’s (Charlie’s, 362 California St., Ventura, 648-6688) . Original rockin’ reggae on the beach will be Ventura’s happening Friday night soiree.

* Rob Rio & The Revolvers (Carrillo Recreation Center, 100 E. Carrillo St., Santa Barbara, 965-3813) . The “King of the Boogie Woogie Piano” will pack the dance floor with enthusiastic swing dancers--that’s when people actually dance as couples.

* Leo Downey Band (Fess Parker’s Red Lion Resort, 633 E. Cabrillo Blvd., Santa Barbara, 564-4333). All original rock by the ever-popular Leo and his musical pals. Also Saturday.

SATURDAY

* The Band (Ventura Theatre, 26 S. Chestnut St., 648-1888) Yup, it’s those rock-and-roll legends from way back when here and now.

* Peter Case, Andy Prieboy (The Pub, UCSB, Isla Vista) Home to quarter popcorn, and tonight, two of the better singer/songwriters.

*Spencer the Gardener, Garage-assaurus Wrecks (Charlie’s) It’s the singing landscaper with the happening horn section, a packed dance floor and two tapes of hits, but no record deal--yet.

SUNDAY

* Bob Mould, Ultra Vivid Scene, Something For Nothing (Ventura Theatre) . He is a rocking, mondo-depresso former Husker Dude; they’re a spiffy and sunny psychedelic, guitar pop-rock band; and they are a hard-edged Ventura rock band.

MONDAY

* The Special Beat, Food for Feet, Lion I’s (Ventura Theatre) . This year’s ultimate dance concert.

Yes, it’s only rock-and-roll, and thus, these listings are subject to capricious change for no apparent reason. Yes, your mom was right, call first.
