In Fullerton, Fireworks Vote Ignites a Very Short Fuse

Share

Concerning Measure Z, the Safe & Sane Fireworks Ban: I am disgusted that most Fullerton voters live such fearful lives that they view a once-a-year tradition as so dangerous that it must be torn from our lives and destroyed.

These same people then voted not to tax alcoholic beverages! That tax would have helped reduce the frequency of alcohol-caused tragedies and assisted innocent victims.

You Fullerton hypocrites, supposedly so safety-conscious, would never vote for something that would truly protect children’s lives: a ban on alcoholic drinks.

The chances are monumentally greater that one of you will run over your neighbor’s child while driving in a drunken haze during the year than of that child burning down your house on the Fourth of July.

I can squirt my roof to protect my house from fireworks sparks.

But how can I protect my children from you people who lack the judgment to fear the horrendous effects of alcohol and instead tremble at the remote possibility of blinded children and burned homes caused by fireworks.

What will you ban next so you can stop worrying so terribly? Motorcycles? Swimming pools? Power tools? Cigarette smoking inside the home? Bicycles? Children being outside after dark? Stop cowering! Face life’s uncertainties with strength, not fear.
