McCartney Brother Sues Larry Flynt: Singer Paul McCartney’s brother, Michael, sued sex magazine publisher Larry Flynt’s LFP Inc. and a Hollywood bookstore for alleged copyright infringement in the publication of an early photograph of the singer with fellow Beatles George Harrison and John Lennon. In the federal lawsuit against LFP and Book City, Michael McCartney, who penned a biography on his family and put together another book of Beatle photographs on which he claims to hold all rights, asserts that the defendants violated his copyright on the photo he took called “John, Paul, George and Dennis.” The photograph was published by LFP last May in “Sh-Boom” magazine, which is distributed at the book store. The suit, which also alleges a violation of foreign moral rights, seeks unspecified damages. (Case No. 90-6099. Filed Nov. 13).
