MCI Switches Its $50-million Ad Account: MCI Communications Corp., in a tough advertising battle with AT&T; and U S Sprint, pulled its $50-million account from Manhattan’s Wells, Rich, Greene and awarded it to Messner Vetere Berger Carey Schmetterer, a much smaller New York City agency, the New York Times reported. Some advertising executives said MCI’s advertising had not been as forceful as that of its rivals, the newspaper said.
