Bilingual Staff Honors
The Mountain View School District, serving parts of El Monte and South El Monte, has honored five employees for outstanding achievement as students in a Rio Hondo College program to train bilingual teachers.
The school board presented commemorative plaques to Soledad Huesca, Joe Gallardo, Carmen Cortez, Maricella Borja and Gloria Martinez for earning grade-point averages of 3.8 or higher.
All instructional aides and non-teaching employees are eligible to participate, and 37 district employees are currently enrolled. Through the program, participants can attend college classes taught by Rio Hondo professors at Mountain View district school sites.
