MESSAGE FROM U.S. HOSTAGES

Share

Here is a Thanksgiving Day message that U.S. hostages held in Iraq addressed to Iraqis and Iraqi-Americans in the United States. They released the text Wednesday to foreign reporters.

On this the most traditional of American holidays, we would like to extend our best wishes to all the Iraqis and Iraqi-Americans who are about to enjoy our national feast while (they are) in our country, the United States of America.

The ingredients of this deeply meaningful dinner are very special and are not available everywhere. The two main ingredients are freedom and justice for all. Freedom to be your very best, to exceed your own expectations, to worship and follow your own God, and to come and go as you please. Justice to guarantee your rights and freedoms under our Constitution until proven wrong.

So, please sit down with your families and friends and enjoy this very special meal. Take a bite and savor the flavor of liberty, eat plenty and enjoy. It will be the finest meal you’ll ever have.

This is a meal that only an American can fully appreciate. Unfortunately, we are not free to enjoy the full flavor of our Thanksgiving meal while being held in Iraq, against our will.
