Social Solutions to Gang Problem

An idea I had some time ago regarding the gang problem: Create a special-forces-type branch of the armed forces with gang members. Offer monetary compensation. Train these men and women under the most stringent, useful military methods. Form a crackerjack, fearful, formidable task force of young people who have nowhere else to go.

Recycle these kids into responsible, enthusiastic soldiers, who would probably be eager to serve the cause. In other words, recycle, recycle, recycle. Do it!
