USC Coach Gillespie Featured as Speaker at Baseball Clinic

College of the Canyons will hold a baseball coaching clinic Dec. 8, beginning at 9 a.m. The featured speaker is USC Coach Mike Gillespie. Other coaches on the speakers’ panel include: George Horton, Cal State Fullerton; Tony Barbone, Azusa Pacific; Rich Hill, Cal Lutheran; Scott Muckey, Crespi High; and Len Mohney, Canyons.

The San Fernando Valley chapter of the National Football Foundation has chosen three players of the week: Brian Allen, a linebacker from Saugus High; Chad Everett, a running back from Village Christian; and Miguel Gonzalez, a tight end-linebacker from Grant.

The Ventura College men’s basketball team has canceled a Dec. 3 home game against San Bernardino. When Ventura learned that the Cypress tournament would count as three games rather than two, it was forced to cancel the game in order to remain within its alloted number of regular-season contests.

Joanna Ng, 12, of Woodland Hills won the Ladies Interpretive category in last month’s Skate Canada competition in Lethbridge, Canada.
