Looking at the Relationship Between Women and Hollywood : Analyzing the Success of ‘Ghost’

Share

The only reason “Ghost” was such a big hit was that restless females dragged their spouses/boyfriends to the one movie where the female lead was someone with whom females could identify. After “Total Recall” (in which the supporting actress was an aggressive version of a male), “Another 48 HRS.” (in which females did not exist) and “Pretty Woman” (to enhance the returns, someone else’s body was substituted for Julia Roberts’ in the print ads), what alternative did we have?

I would welcome and participate in any boycott of movies or studios that need a swift kick in their schwarzeneggers.
