In the Idaho women’s basketball tournament:

Portland 65, UC Irvine 59--Martha Sheldon had 26 points and 16 rebounds to lead Portland (1-1) in the third-place game of the tournament. Yvonne Catala had 13 points and 15 rebounds and Jenny Lee had 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Anteaters (0-2), who lost their 26 consecutive game.

In nonconference women’s basketball:

Cal State San Bernardino 80, Chapman 68--San Bernardino, which will join Chapman in the California Collegiate Athletic Assn. next season, gave the Panthers their first loss of the season at San Bernardino.

In the UC San Diego Triton Tip-Off men’s basketball tournament:

Occidental 97, Christ College Irvine 82--Jamie McShan had 23 points, Corey Smith had 16 and Brian Hazelwood had 15 but the Eagles (0-4) lost in the third-place game of the tournament.
