Share

Golden West College has received a $48,000 state grant for a program that helps women and ethnic minority students prepare for law enforcement careers.

The state’s Underrepresented Student Special Project awarded the grant to Project AERO, the college’s year-old program for the advancement of ethnic representation and opportunities.

Project AERO aims to help women, black, Asian and Latino students expand their cultural awareness and develop skills in English, writing and math to qualify them for Golden West’s basic-training police academy. The program also helps find jobs for qualified graduates.
