Costa Mesa Runner Sets Record in Palm Springs

Joan Jeter of Costa Mesa set a course record in winning the women’s 50-54 age-group division of the Desert Princess World Duathlon Championships Sunday in Palm Springs.

Jeter, who runs for Team Enermax, ran and cycled the course in 3 hours 28 minutes 18 seconds to break the division’s course-record time of 3:58:42.

Ken Souza of Encinitas was the event’s overall winner. .

In the men’s 60-64 division, Lawren Schumaker of Orange finished second (3:39:05) to Dick Robinson (3:22:14).
