COUNTYWIDE : Casa Pacifica Turns to Private Donors

Share

Almost all public funding to build Casa Pacifica, a children’s crisis care center, has been received and organizers will soon turn to the private sector for donations, said Administrative Director Pamela Burke.

The county has provided more than half of the needed $8 million.

Casa Pacifica will receive $100,000 from the Ronald McDonald Children’s Charities Invitational golf tournament, which was held at Sherwood Country Club in Westlake earlier this month.

The Angels’ Ball, which will also benefit Casa Pacifica, will be held at the Sherwood Country Club on Dec. 8.

Casa Pacifica, to be built on 22.8 acres in Camarillo, will have room for 85 abused and abandoned children from Ventura County. The home will include four cottages, nursery, medical clinic, administration building, school, gymnasium, dining room and recreational areas.

Organizers hope to select a final architectural plan for the facility in December, Burke said. The groundbreaking is planned for the summer of 1991, she said.
