ANAHEIM : Accidents Close Three Freeway Lanes

Share

An overturned cement-mixing truck and a separate car accident shut down three of the four lanes on the Riverside Freeway for two hours Monday morning, jamming traffic for miles.

About 10 a.m., a car traveling west on the freeway between the Brookhurst Streetand Magnolia Avenue exits was slowing to turn onto the Santa Ana Freeway when it was rear-ended by another car, Officer Linda Burruf of the California Highway Patrol said.

“When the (driver of the) cement truck saw that accident, he tried to stop and ended up skidding across the second lane into the cement divider and then back into the lane again,” Burruf said. “That’s when the truck overturned.”

A flatbed truck also skidded and crashed into the concrete divider after the driver couldn’t brake in time.

The two drivers in the first crash were taken to Martin Luther Hospital in Anaheim for treatment of minor injuries, the CHP said.
