P.M. BRIEFING : Hong Kong Financier Denied Bail
From Times Wire Services
HONG KONG —
Former Hong Kong Stock Exchange Chairman Ronald Li, appealing his conviction on corruption charges, was denied bail today, a judicial spokesman said.
A Hong Kong judge rejected Li’s application for bail, and he cannot appeal the ruling, the spokesman said.
Last month, Li was sentenced to four years in prison for accepting shares from two companies in return for approving or not opposing their stock market listings. His appeal is to be heard early next year.
