West Covina : Council to Broadcast Live
Live, from West Covina, it’s . . . the City Council!
After months of taping City Council meetings, officials have decided that it is time for live broadcasts.
Beginning sometime next spring, Cencom Cable Television will broadcast the meetings on Channel 56.
The council on Monday voted 3 to 2 for the change. Council members Richard Jennings and Nancy Manners voted against the live shows, arguing that a city survey indicating a public desire for such broadcasts was invalid because too few people responded.
The city distributed 12,356 surveys to Cencom customers and received 869 responses. According to the survey, more than 77%--658 people--said they would like to see live broadcasts.
