Glendora : City Won’t Seek Rail Station

Share

Glendora will not apply to the Los Angeles County Transportation Commission for a commuter rail station, the City Council decided Tuesday.

Council members said they would like a station but that it would cost too much. City Manager Art Cook said the city would have to pay about $1 million to acquire the land and build the station. In addition, he said, it would have to spend another $1 million to buy two acres for parking, plus make street improvements, then pay about $155,000 annually for maintenance.

Only Councilman Marshall Mouw favored applying for a station, saying he believes that Glendora could back out later because the project might not meet environmental standards.
