Suspect to Stand Trial in 3 Rapes at USC

A Los Angeles man has been ordered to stand trial on charges that he raped three USC students shortly after his parole from prison and tried to sexually assault a West Covina woman.

Willie D. Taylor, 28, was identified at his preliminary hearing by the four women as the man who had attacked them and threatened to kill them if they reported the assaults to police.

This week Taylor was ordered by Municipal Court Judge David Horwitz to stand trial in Superior Court on 26 counts of rape, sodomy, attempted rape, assault with intent to commit rape, residential robbery and burglary. The judge dismissed another sodomy count, citing insufficient evidence.

If convicted of all the counts, Taylor could be sentenced to about 120 years in prison, Deputy Dist. Atty. Andy McMullen said. Taylor remains in custody without bail and is scheduled to be arraigned in Superior Court on Dec. 3.
