COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Second-Half Surge Keeps Fullerton Women Unbeaten

Nicky Durity scored 14 of her game-high 20 points in the second half to lead Fullerton to a 68-46 victory over College of the Canyons in a nonconference women’s basketball game Wednesday at Fullerton.

Fullerton (6-0) led at the half, 33-29, but outscored Canyons, 14-2, in the first five minutes of the second half. Durity, the only Fullerton player in double figures, also had 11 rebounds. The victory was the 498th for Fullerton Coach Colleen Riley (498-93).

In another nonconference women’s game:

Golden West 88, Bakersfield 79--Golden West (6-0) had six players in double figures in the victory at Bakersfield. Bits Sirchia led the winners with 18 points. Dawn Haag and Allison Bickel added 13 and Jennifer Harney had 12. Tracy Wolf and Kim Kordik each had 10 for Golden West.

In the Antelope Valley men’s basketball tournament:

Canyons 79, Golden West 70--Tom Dever scored 25, Ric Van Scoyoc 15 and Paig Parish 13 for Golden West (3-4), which plays Palomar at 3 p.m. in the consolation round.
