Two European publications have reported extensive use of performance enhancing drugs by international track and field stars. Mittwoch, an Austrian newspaper, reported that Americans Leroy Burrell, Roger Kingdom and Danny Everett, all track stars, were said to have tested positive last summer for drug use. TAC immediately denied the allegations.

Stern magazine listed six-time Olympic swimming gold medalist Kristin Otto, long jumper Heike Drechsler, Olympic shotput champion Ulf Timmermann and world decathlon champion Torsten Voss as long-time drug users. Voss dismissed the report as a “flat-out lie.”
