THE SIDELINES : Moses 3rd in World Cup Bobsled

Former Olympic hurdles champion Edwin Moses boosted his chances of competing in the 1992 Winter Olympics when he finished third in a two-man World Cup bobsled race today.

The 35-year-old American’s bobsled, driven by Brian Shimer, finished 0.75 seconds behind experienced German winner Wolfgang Hoppe, whose two runs totaled one minute, 54.45 seconds.

Local driver Peter Hinz of Germany was second in 1:54.88, the third World Cup event of the season.
