Countywide : Times O.C. Holiday Parade Is Today

The 1990 Times Orange County Holiday Parade begins today at 10:30 a.m. in downtown Santa Ana. This year’s theme is “Learning--Celebrate Life’s Adventure,” with nationally known teacher Jaime Escalante as grand marshal. Escalante’s achievements in an East Los Angeles high school were portrayed in the 1988 movie, “Stand and Deliver.”

Attractions include celebrities, floral floats, high school marching bands, equestrian units and giant balloons of Mighty Mouse, Popeye and Olive Oyl, Raggedy Ann and Heathcliff the Cat.

The parade starts at Civic Center Drive and Broadway. It proceeds north on Broadway to 17th Street, travels east on 17th Street to Main Street, goes south on Main and concludes at Main and Washington Avenue. It can be seen live on KCAL Channel 9.
