CBS News Closes Bureaus: CBS News closed its Chicago and Denver bureaus over the weekend as part of a cost-cutting program. It is expected to keep one correspondent in each city, but five off-air staffers will be laid off in Chicago. Another 10 CBS News technicians in Chicago will be transferred to the network’s locally owned station. The closings leave CBS News with six domestic news bureaus.
