Credit Firm Sues GM: Tokai Credit Corp. sued General Motors Corp. for allegedly breaching a 1989 loan contract between the credit company and Performance Chevrolet, a GM dealership in Calabasas. The federal suit said that, under terms of the contract, Tokai agreed to finance Performance’s purchases of new vehicles from Chevrolet on condition that the loan be repaid with proceeds from auto sales. Tokai maintains that after Performance defaulted on $1.1 million that it owes Tokai, plus $80,000 in interest, GM promised to assume $700,000 on the debt. (Case No. 90-6394. Filed Nov. 29, 1990.)
