The Burbank City Council on Tuesday approved the establishment of several temporary barricades in Toluca Lake neighborhoods to cut down on motorists who use the streets as a shortcutfrom the nearby Media District.

Officials said residents in the area have complained for years about the amount of traffic coming in from the district, which is the headquarters for several movie and television studios.

Seven streets will be closed in about two weeks with temporary wooden barricades as part of a 90-day trial program, officials said. The affected streets are National Avenue, McFarlane Avenue, Warner Boulevard, Toluca Lake Avenue, Franklin Avenue and Hood Avenue between Rose Street and Olive/Pass avenues, and Rose Street between Lakeside Drive and Hood Avenue.
