Coroner’s Probe Finds Girl Was Strangled

A teen-age girl found dead in her East Los Angeles home last week was strangled, the coroner’s office said Thursday.
Mirabel Perez, 14, was found slain in the bedroom of her home on South Gage Avenue last Friday by a classmate who was picking her up for school, sheriff’s authorities said.
It was not immediately known how Perez died, but an autopsy showed she was strangled with an unknown object, coroner’s spokesman Bob Dambacher said.
Sheriff’s investigators were not available to comment Thursday and a department spokesman had no information about any arrests or a motive for the slaying.
