COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Pagett Sets Long-Range Record in Rancho Santiago’s Victory

Brett Pagett set a single-game record for Rancho Santiago College with seven three-pointers in a 99-75 victory over Moorpark in the semifinals of the Pasadena Tournament Thursday.

Pagett was seven of nine from three-point range and nine of 11 overall. He surpassed the record of six, which was set by Kenny Ammann (1988) and Gene Altamirano, who did it twice last season. Pagett also had six assists.

Erik Martin scored 18 points and had 10 rebounds for Rancho Santiago (12-1), the top-ranked team in the state.

In the Riverside men’s tournament:

Fullerton 104, Mt. San Jacinto 53--Bob Terry had 29 points and Garry Hunter 16 for Fullerton (8-5), which plays Golden West at 4 p.m. today in a consolation semifinal.

Golden West 110, Chaffey 107--Ric Van Scoyoc scored 27 points, Scott Campbell 26--including five three-pointers--and Jason Vaughan 24 for Golden West (5-8).

In the Cuesta women’s tournament:

Orange Coast 73, Hartnell 53--Kami Bigler scored 17 for Orange Coast in the first-round game.

In a nonconference women’s game:

Saddleback 92, Palomar 27--Nilda Valdez scored 19 points, Kristen Okura added 18 points, and Erin Schimeneck had 16 points, 12 rebounds and five blocked shots for host Saddleback (8-2).
