Taking Sides Over Abortion and TBS

Share

Howard Rosenberg’s criticism of Turner Broadcasting’s “Abortion Denied” (“Is TBS Taking Sides in the War Over Abortion?” Dec. 7) and its so-called lack of balance seems perverted on its own. After years of listening to the constant ravings of the anti-choice, anti-women fundamentalist zealots, he cries over the one-hour broadcast of a pro-choice majority view.

Has anyone ever seen any “balance” on Trinity Broadcasting or Jimmy Swaggart or Pat Robertson or any of the other televangelical money machines? Hardly an hour goes by before they bemoan about the rights of women to make their own choices about their lives. Not one minute is ever broadcast to show the other side. Even TBS has sold hundreds of hours to Jerry Falwell without any call for balance.

This one-hour program, in fact, does not even begin to even up the score against the--so-far--one-sided propaganda mill of those who would subject women to the horrors of the past. And Rosenberg should know better. After years of properly directed criticism of the commercial networks for their barrage of non-stop violent programming and lack of guts over sexual content, he seems to have caved in to them.
