NATION IN BRIEF : MASSACHUSETTS : 125 Homeless After Five Buildings Burn

Arson was suspected in a fire that destroyed five three-family homes and damaged six others in Revere, Mass., leaving more than 125 people homeless. Ten persons suffered minor injuries, and 17 fire departments from the Boston area responded to the blaze, which the Revere fire chief said was the worst he had seen in 35 years. The neighborhood contains mostly Asian, Latino and Portuguese residents, and firemen had trouble persuading many who do not speak English to flee their homes. The fire began in a vacant building.
