MEN’S BASKETBALL

Tim Rapp scored a game-high 32 points, but UC San Diego lost its first game of the season to host The Masters College, 90-83. Masters improved to 6-4. UCSD fell to 7-1.

Rusty Fallin scored 29 points on 12 of 18 shooting as Point Loma Nazarene College defeated visiting Mount Mercy College, 103-85. Mark Bulgin added 23 for PLNC (5-3). Mount Mercy fell to 5-6.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Genia Miller scored 30 points to lead Cal State Fullerton to a 85-63 victory over the University of San Diego.

Miller was one of three Titans to score in double figures. Joey Ray scored 18 and Claudette Jackson scored 17.

Only center Chris Enger reached double figures for USD. She scored 15.

USD fell to 2-5 while Fullerton improved to 5-2.

Point Loma Nazarene College trailed by one at halftime but went cold and wound up losing, 90-67, to Southern Nazarene University in the final day of a round-robin tournament in Nampa, Idaho. Shannon Abrams led PLNC (6-5) with 31 points and nine rebounds.

University of St. Thomas, Minn. defeated visiting UC San Diego, 74-49. Cari Young led UCSD (4-3) with 16 points and Lisa Beaver added 10. All-American Lauri Trowe led St. Thomas with 18 points.

GOLF

Bryan Gorman, a 27-year-old club pro from Bonita Golf Course, shot a 75 Saturday and trails Howard Twitty by five strokes after three rounds of the Spalding Invitational at Pebble Beach.

The non-tour event includes men and four women on the LPGA tour. Gorman, who was the 1986 San Diego County amateur championship, shot a 70 Thursday and 71 Friday.
