Date for New GATT Talks Set: To try to revive trade talks that collapsed this month, the head of the governing body on world trade called on negotiators to return to the bargaining table Jan. 15. The session was called by Arthur Dunkel, director-general of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade. There has been no sign that the positions among GATT nations have changed enough--especially in the key area of farm subsidies--to salvage efforts to liberalize global trade.
